Project 5- Some ideas
So I was thinking about what Ed said during class about having my sister's wedding be related to my previous piece, and decided that I was going to try to integrate that into this piece. I want to keep working with scanned-in flowers, but in a more abstract way.
As far as concept goes, I was thinking about incorporating wedding photos of my mother and grandmother. The skirt of the wedding dress that my sister is wearing is the same skirt on both my mother and grandmother's dresses. So it is sort of this family heirloom passed down over three generations. I want this piece to capture feelings of time passing and the bond that family/marriage creates.
Like I said, my goal is for this to be more abstract than my previous works in this class. I'm going to do some sketches and will upload them in a different post.
I'm also planning on modifying the piece after it is printed by attaching some of the pressed flowers or maybe some potpourri that we made out of her wedding flowers.
This is a newspaper article that they put in my grandmother's hometown newspaper about the dress. Just so you guys can see how it's changed over the years.

These are the flowers when they were alive!
